The Midwest Chess Camp has been held annually since 2002. Our goal is to prepare young players with the skills they need for strong competition and to allow club players from the central Illinois area to mix and compete with Masters and other strong players. Players are divided into 2 Sections, beginner/novice and intermediate/advanced. After two days of instruction, players get a chance to show what they have learned with a tournament on Saturday August 5th. Additional local K-12 players are invited to join for the tournament. Instruction is lead by Illinois Chess Coach of the Year, Murrel Rhodes, and teching profesional Patrick Cohen.
